In July 2015, we published an article
about the implementation of Tillypad into the The Vine Restaurant at Great Bardfield, a popular English restaurant near London. Over the past two years the success of this business has allowed owners Steve and Tanya Mann to expand their operation with the introduction of a premium boutique hotel and restaurant, Linden House. Recommended by The Times as one of the best places to stay in the area Linden House has also been awarded five stars by visit England.
Linden House is a luxurious boutique hotel situated in the historic village of Stansted Mountfitchet with its famous 1066 castle and windmill, yet situated only two miles from Stansted Airport and forty minutes to central London and Cambridge from the village train station. It attracts business clientele that are working in the surrounding area, travellers and couples on romantic getaways.
Linden House is comprised of two two-storey architecturally pleasing timber framed buildings connected by a terrace. Intimacy, comfort and luxury is what attracts customers here. The hotel has only 9 rooms created with the help of a famous British designer. He has selected antique furniture, opted for an eclectic interior design and found unique decorations for the rooms. The rooms are named after wines, which can be tasted in the restaurant.
From the creators of eno-dining
The owners of Linden House have created their own gastronomic concept and named it eno-dining. According to the ‘eno’ philosophy food must be served with appropriate wine for a full gastronomic experience. 'eno' comes from Greek ‘oinos’ and is widely used in the USA, Italy and other countries to mean 'wine'. For example, wine shops in Italy are often called enoteca. In Linden House, eno-dining means much more than simple gastronomy. Everything is centered around wine: dinners, wine tastings, and presentations from wine critics and winemakers.
Two venues — two concepts — one chain
During the past two years, Tanya and Steve have worked closely with the Tillypad UK team who have established an excellent bespoke EPOS system for The Vine Restaurant. The functionality Tillypad XL offers has impressed the business owners, specifically the user friendly way in which they can amend menu items, keep track of sales and manage employee working hours. The excellent level of management information also available left the business owners in no doubt that Tillypad should replace the old costly system that was installed at Linden House.
Regular customers often frequent both businesses due to the consistently excellent standards. Tillypad XL has enabled their loyalty programme to be concurrent across both sites and the multisite integration work completed has given the management clear visibility across each business.
