Tillypad team took an active part in the restaurant forum called Food Business Show, held in St. Petersburg from 5 to 6 September 2018. Organised at PetroCongress conference centre, the Forum occupied its two storeys offering extended business, educational, and entertainment programme.
Lectures, workshops, and seminars held by big names of the restaurant industry attracted over 300 leading HoReCa specialists from Russia and near-abroad countries. For those who were only starting a restaurant, the organisers offered Free lecture zone where gurus of the catering business shared their knowledge on choosing a concept, making a business plan, and recruiting. Recommendation from Natalia Kulakova (consultant of Moscow Government on teaching restaurant business to entrepreneurs): first and foremost, a restaurant holder should think through the legend of a future venue. For example, if you are going to open a Chilean restaurant, be ready to reveal to your guests what inspired you to choose this particular cuisine, so that your customers could feel how this place is different from the rest. Gleb Orlov, marketing partner at the restaurateur association UnoDosTres, brought into focus the characteristics of Generation Y, a core market for most of the venues. Gen Y are all about following the latest trends and appreciating good service, and that's what keeps the restaurant owners on their toes! Konstantin Galtsov, a teacher at SWISSAM, Hospitality Business and Culinary Art School, presented his step-by-step checklist for opening a restaurant; while international expert Evgeniy Irishkin recommended "keeping the food taste simple".
For experienced restaurateurs, the organisers presented a special advanced programme. During two days, HoReCa professionals held specialised classes and lectures called 'Recipe for success', 'Restaurateur', 'Master-chef', 'Bar', and 'Progress'. Focused on industry's topical issues, hot trends, and latest arrivals, the seminars brought the information firsthand to the interested audience. These days, delivery service is a must for every restaurant. Dmitry Yanushkevich, Sales Director of Tillypad, talked the audience through all the delivery automation aspects, from delivery algorithms and logistics to managing delivery aggregators. Vladimir Terekhov, Evgeniy Lebedev, Vladislav Evdokimov, and other domain experts carried on the discussion on tech solutions that can be successfully applied at a restaurant. Those participants who did not delve into the theory of restaurant management had a chance to get practical knowledge on automation provided by our experts at the Tillypad exhibition stand.
Masterly organised and insightful, Food Business Show Forum attracted restaurant business owners of various levels and background setting its goal to become a milestone event for HoReCa industry in the near future.
